Taryn

Taryn came to us as a referral from Texas Children's Baptist Home. She spent 4 months with us. Here is her story. What drew you to consider staying at Ma B? I first started considering staying at MaB due to a need for a place to be stress free during the last bit of my pregnancy. What were you expecting for your stay? I was expecting a low stress environment where I could recoup and prepare for taking care of a child. What did you end up receiving? Exactly what I expected and more since I not only received a place to escape the stress of my situation but I also had support from my midwife every step of the way. How would your life be different if you hadn’t had MaB? I imagine I would have been far less prepared for birth as well as having a harder time adjusting to having a child. What are your future plans since your stay at MaB? I plan to figure out my next steps for education to build a stable foundation for me and my son. What encouraging words would you offer to other new mothers? There is support for women who are going through pregnancy and motherhood. You deserve to have a good environment for you and your child.

Hannah

Hannah came to us as a referral from Texas Children's Baptist home. This is her story. What drew you to consider staying at Ma baileys? One of the things that drew my interest in coming here was that it was owned by a midwife for women to have a relaxing transition to motherhood postpartum. Its solely focused on you and your baby’s needs, and I think that’s amazing. Whether you’re a new mom or a mom of three, Ma baileys open their arms to anyone in need, and I think that’s a wonderful thing. What were you expecting for your stay? I was expecting just a relaxing place to have me and my baby for postpartum care with some guiding help. What did you end up receiving? I ended up receiving BEYOND that. I ended up getting connected with an amazing midwife that actually cares and checks in on you while giving you space. It’s a perfect balance here. Ma baileys helps with just more than giving you a place for short term postpartum. You build a connection here with someone who really cares and helps with all needs here while you focus on having a baby and being the best mom you can be during this time. I ended up learning things that I didn’t even know I had to know. The experience here all around has just been amazing. How would your life be different if you hadn’t had Ma baileys? This place gave me short term housing, so I can get my life on the right track financially, and giving me stability that I needed for my next chapter in life with my new baby added to the family. I don’t think I would have the confidence and the excitement I have been given here to give birth, and bringing my baby back to a safe place where we can both grow is an amazing thing. I’m blessed to have been given this opportunity to be here. Being here has also given me a sense of hope for the future. What are your future plans since your stay at Ma Baileys? Since this place gives you short-term housing for both you and your baby while providing mental stability and physical care, my plans are to find long-term housing for me and my baby, and really use this place as a base for my building blocks to grow. What encouraging words would you offer to other new mothers? No matter what you are going through, you have got this. Giving birth can be scary, but it’s also so exciting and so rewarding. It’s an amazing thing to be able to experience motherhood. It’s something you should never beat yourself up about. It’s definitely something to embrace and never take for granted. Never be ashamed to ask for help, and don’t forget to trust yourself and your body, and never compare your one of a kind journey to someone else’s. Motherhood, to say the least, is amazing.
